Nicotiana rustica
1000 year old tobacco
Annual, Open-pollinated. 65 days. Sow seeds indoors 6 to 8 weeks before putting outside. Needs light to germinate, mist lightly on top of soil.
The origin of the discovery of these seeds is pretty special: they are said to have been discovered sealed with pitch in pottery that was carbon dated to be over 1000 year old, at a burial site near the Great Lakes.
These plants are light green fuzzy leaves, short, and produce a compact yellow flower. It is mostly used as a ceremonial tobacco.
I have grown this for many years and even to sit in the presence of this plant is pretty special✨
